Sudden loss of vision with macula changes

40 year old with sudden change in vision presents with the fundus picture and accompanying OCT. What is the most likely systemic disease associated with the condition?


Fundus picture is suggestive of intra retinal macular hemorrhage. The localized nature of this hemorrhage is suggestive of a arterial macroaneurysm. These are usually associated with systemic hypertension in 2/3rds of the cases. Sometimes associated with CRVO. Vision loss may secondary to thrombosis or embolic occlusion or sub-ILM hemorrhage or intraretinal (as in this case) , subretinal or vitreous hemorrgahe
